Big Blue Button Integration

This chapter explains how the Big Blue Button (BBB) integration to Open Social works for regular users, site managers, and content managers.

 

Note: This feature is not part of the default Open Social product (basic/distro) but can be ordered as an extension module. 

 

With our BigBlueButton integration, you can easily add interactive webinars and video-calls straight to your community events or online courses.

What is Big Blue Button?

BigBlueButton is the best open source webinar tool available. BigBlueButton is one of the most popular tools for creating engaging and interactive webinars and video-calls. It is ideal for online learning and includes the following features:

– Multiple-screen sharing
– Note-sharing

Add BigBlueButton to your courses or events and create a collaborative environment for audiences of up to 100.

BigBlueButton is also fully open-source, which means that you don’t require any additional subscriptions.

 

How to create an event using BBB?

Once you create an event, you receive the option to add a virtual event. 

When you enable the virtual session (ass seen in the image below), you can select your event type (depending on if you have Zoom & Big Blue Button), and add your welcome message, so members will see the message once they join the event.

Once you created the event (check out how to create an event), you can see a new field appears stating join event as well as recordings. 

After the event ends, the recordings will generate and be placed in that box for all users to see. 

BBB Integration

 

Details of the BBB Integration:

  • With BBB you can have several meetings at the same time. 
  • BBB allows you to only have a maximum of 100 users in the meeting. It is ideally used for small meetings and webinars.
