Guests can enroll in events without an account
In our last release, we made it possible for community ‘guests’ to enroll in events without creating a community account. We’ve now made this a site-wide setting. This means you can enable or disable this feature for new events and determine whether a user is able to override this site-wide setting on a per-event basis.

Private messaging inbox is more flexible!
We used to only allow the 30 most recent threads in your private messaging inbox. But that wasn’t fair if you had more than 30! Therefore, we switched to a pagination view instead so you can see all your threads.

Improved unpublished comments
Unpublished comments received a great new look in 3.0 but this wasn’t the case yet for unpublished comments on posts. They felt left out. So, now all the comments on the platform have the same recognizable look when they're unpublished.

Deleted user’s name updated
Whenever a user deleted his or her account, the name would change to Anonymous. In some cases, it would show 'Anonymous (not verified)'. We made this more consistent, meaning the '(not verified)' addition will not be shown anymore.

Creating groups can be disabled
If you’re worried that too many groups might fragment the community, as a site manager, you can now disable the group creation function for regular users. Besides, you can also disable the creation of certain type of groups (public group, open group or closed group). This way you will have complete control over the community structure.

Email addresses are encrypted
Since email addresses are the minimum amount of personal information required to use Open Social, we encrypted this information on the server to make it extra secure.

Bug Fixes

Moving content improved: We fixed a bug that caused moving content between groups to result in the item not showing on the group stream page

No background enforced for login icon: We no longer enforce a background color on the mobile user login icon. This makes it possible to use a white navigation bar in Open Social with this icon on mobile layouts.

Delete group message improved: Correct grammar is now used for the message that is shown when you are about to delete a group.

Landing buttons are clickable: Buttons with anchor tags in the hero section on landing pages only work when you click on the text inside of the button. If you click just outside of the text (but still on the button), nothing happens. Now, wherever you click, it will work.

Informational blocks are all the same: When you create a stream on a landing page, the informational blocks such as "New groups" now look the same as they do on the default Open Social streams. As it belongs.

And many more...

Enjoy Open Social!
