Scheduled notification emails are sent at more predictable times
We used to send notification emails at varying times (either every 24 hours or 26 hours) since they partially depended on when the associated content was created. However, a regular re-occurring time for notification emails is handier; they are now sent every 24 hours or 7 days depending on your notification settings (OCD satisfied).

Users redirected to the group page after joining a group
When you joined a group, you used to be redirected to your own group overview page. We changed it so that you are redirected the group homepage instead. This way, you can check out the group content right away!

Activity stream pagers are now consistent
When you scroll through your activity stream, the method used to go to the next page was not always consistent. Sometimes it was a numbered list (full pager) and other times there was a button leading to “older items” (mini pager). No one needs that type of inconsistency in their life. All the activity streams are now mini pagers, making it consistent.

Site managers can search for users using e-mail addresses
Looking for a user? We’ve just made it easier for you! When you add users to a group or select users for a private message, site managers can search for them using their email address (providing that they added it to their profile)

Featuring landing pages with images
Landing pages are awesome, aren’t they? They let you feature groups, users, and other landing pages. When you choose to feature a landing page (by adding a featured block), the image from the landing page hero will be chosen as the representative image.

Also, when you choose to feature a page or a book page, the featured image is now also clickable and leads to the page content item.

Bug Fixes

  • The embed button in the WYSIWYG editor is fixed: The popup that should appear when clicking on the embed button wasn’t visible. The embeds in the editor were still working, and now this button works again as well!

  • Editing a post in a closed group is fixed: It was previously not possible to edit a post placed in a closed group due to a bug in the visibility field. Instead, an error appeared. This has been fixed.

  • Landing page spacing is fixed: When a landing page was created using a specific order of blocks (“hero", "featured", "hero", "featured", etc.), this resulted in a missing space between the blocks. We made sure the spacing is correct!

  • Text alignment for data usage blocks corrected: There are blocks in Open Social that explain how your data is being used. The text in these blocks was aligned to the center. However, this did not look attractive, so we aligned it to the left.

  • Edited text for data usage blocks shows up immediately: When you would edit the text belonging to the signup data usage block, the edited text would not show up immediately. Now your changes are shown immediately.

  • New comments in groups are more visible: When users commented on topics or events in groups, it was previously not displayed in the activity stream. In order to stay up to date with all activities, these are once again visible on your activity stream.

  • Hero section removed from user settings and edit profile page: In some cases, the hero section was displayed on both the user settings page and edit profile pages. Since this was not intentional, it has been removed.

  • Duplicate page titles removed from edit topic and event pages: We noticed that duplicate page titles were being displayed when a user was editing a topic or an event. One page title usually says enough, so we removed the other one.
