Post content in multiple groups

This chapter explains how to enable cross-posting content in multiple groups and how to post content in multiple group.

Sometimes, an event, a topic or a discussion can be relevant for more than one group in a community. To make this a quick and easy process, Site Managers can enable cross-posting content so that Site Managers and Content Managers can post content in multiple groups.

How to enable cross-posting?

Cross-posting can be enabled under under Group Settings (direct URL: /admin/config/opensocial/social-group). You can decide which content types can be cross-posted, and which group types allow cross-posting.

Content types include:

  • Topics
  • Events
  • Discussions

Group types include:

  • Flexible Groups
  • Challenges
  • Secret Challenges
  • Closed Challenges
  • Advanced Courses
  • Basic Courses

How to cross-post content in multiple groups?

When editing or creating content that is possible to cross-post, a Site Manager or Content Manager will be able to select the desired groups under Access permissions. Once a content is placed in multiple groups, it will remain as one content piece with multiple group relations with the first group in the list being the main group for this content.

Notifications

Notifications are sent to group members when a new content is created. Only members of the main group (first group in the list ) will receive a direct notification (email and notification center) while users of crossposted groups (every other group in the list) will see a new entry in their group stream about it.
