Lumina Insights is powered by activity data generated by the CMS. This page describes at a high level what data is collected and how it is used.
What data is collected
As users interact with the CMS, the platform generates activity data that Lumina Insights processes to produce the metrics and dashboards described in the Dashboards overview.
The data falls into the following broad categories:
- User activity: Account creation, logins, profile changes, and account status changes.
- Groups and memberships: Group creation, updates, and membership changes such as members joining or leaving.
- Content: Creation and updates of content types such as topics, discussions, posts, and events.
- Engagement: Interactions such as comments, likes, follows, and page views.
The specific types of activity that are captured will evolve over time as the platform and Lumina Insights continue to develop.
How data flows
Activity from the CMS is collected automatically. No manual setup or data entry is required from community managers. The data is processed and made available in the Lumina Insights dashboards with minimal delay.
Privacy and scope
Lumina Insights only collects activity data that is necessary for analytics and audit purposes. The data is used exclusively to power the dashboards and reports described in this documentation.
