Lumina Insights is designed with data privacy in mind. This page describes the principles that guide how data is collected, what controls are available, and how user privacy is respected.
Data minimization
Lumina Insights follows a principle of data minimization: we aim to collect no more information than is needed and useful for producing the analytics and audit capabilities described in this documentation.
- Only activity data that is necessary for the dashboards and reports is collected.
- Data is aggregated and presented as metrics and trends, not as a tool for monitoring individual users.
- The focus is on community-level insights (such as engagement rates, retention, and group health) rather than detailed tracking of individual behavior.
User opt-out
Users of the Community Collaboration Platform can opt out of having their activity included in metrics showing individuals in Lumina Insights. When a user opts out:
- Their activity is excluded from metrics showing individual users, they will be shown as "Anonymous user"
- Their activity will still be included in aggregated metrics
- Events and activity will still be available per user, to serve the purpose of the audit capabilities.
The opt-out mechanism is managed through the Community Management System. Users can set this in their account settings page. For details on how to configure or communicate this to your users, contact the Open Social Support desk.
What is not collected
Lumina Insights does not collect or store:
- Private message content.
- Passwords or authentication credentials.
- Data from external systems or services outside the Community Collaboration Platform.
Data use
All data collected by Lumina Insights is used exclusively to power the dashboards, metrics, and audit capabilities described in this documentation. Data is not shared with third parties or used for purposes outside of the Lumina Insights product.
