Overview
Lumina Insights is an analytics product by Open Social that turns activity data from the CMS into actionable insights. It helps community managers and site owners make data-driven decisions about their community strategy.

Lumina Insights is designed for:
- Community managers who need to understand engagement patterns, identify top contributors, and monitor the health of their community.
- Site owners who want to track key performance indicators, measure the impact of their community strategies, and demonstrate platform value.
What it provides
Real-time dashboards and visualizations
Lumina Insights provides dashboards that surface the most important metrics for your community. These dashboards update in real time and can be filtered by time range, groups, and other dimensions to focus on the areas that matter most to you.
Currently, three dashboards are available:
- Community health: Tracks user lifecycle, engagement, and behavior patterns across the platform.
- Group insights: Monitors group dynamics, membership trends, and activity levels.
- Compliance and audit: Provides audit-ready activity logs and supports transparency and regulatory requirements.

Key performance indicators
With Lumina Insights you can track KPIs that are critical to understanding your community:
- Onboarding: How quickly new users make their first contribution after signing up.
- Engagement: How many users are active and how frequently they participate.
- Retention: What percentage of active users return the following month.
- Churn: How many users cancel their accounts and how many become inactive over time.
- Group activity: Which groups are thriving and which need attention.
- Top contributors: Who is driving the most engagement in the community.
Compliance and audit
For organizations with compliance requirements, Lumina Insights provides audit-ready activity logs that track platform activity and user actions. This helps meet regulatory requirements while maintaining transparency and data governance. See Compliance and audit dashboard for details.
How it works
Lumina Insights collects activity data generated by the CMS. This data is processed and made available through interactive dashboards that you can access directly from your browser.
